THE VINYL SHRINE
(MAKER’S EDITION)
This Started With a Problem. It Ended With a Frame.
You know the stack of vinyl you own? The one with the amazing cover art that’s currently gathering dust in a corner? We had one too. We wanted to display it, but every frame we found was either flimsy, boring, or required a master’s degree in patience to use.
So, we made our own.
This isn’t just a frame. It’s a deliberately inefficient, 3D-printed, self-assembled home for your favourite album. You build it piece by piece. You program the tag. You give it a purpose. We don’t hide the glue; the workaround is the work.
Does it connect to the internet via an NFC tag to instantly play your music? Yes. Is it over-engineered for what it is? Absolutely.
If you understand why this exists, you’re our kind of weirdo.

DESIGN
Ed by Eddy exists to explore better, stranger ways to solve ordinary problems.
The Problem with ‘Good Enough’
Modern life is obsessed with efficiency. We demand faster, cheaper, and more frictionless solutions to every conceivable problem. But in this relentless pursuit of optimization, we’ve stripped away something essential: the meaning. The world is filled with perfectly adequate, utterly forgettable objects that solve a problem but tell no story.
This was our problem. We needed to display a record, and the world offered us sterile, optimized boxes. They were ‘good enough’, and for that reason, they were completely wrong.
In Defense of Deliberate Inefficiency
What if the most logical solution isn’t always the best one? At Ed by Eddy, we operate on a philosophy we call ‘Deliberate Inefficiency’. We believe the workaround is the work. We believe that by adding a little friction, a moment of thought, or the satisfaction of building something with your own two hands creates a value that optimization can never replicate.
We don’t optimize for speed or cost; we optimize for meaning.
If the first version solves a problem “well enough”, we will intentionally try a second, worse-but-cooler way, because the most interesting solutions are rarely the most obvious ones.
A Manifesto for Making
This is why our products ask a little more of you. Every item we create is an experiment in storytelling, usefulness, and rebellion. They are built to answer questions you didn’t know you had - with weird solutions that somehow just… work. We don’t hide the glue because
our imperfections are process, not mistakes.
We are not just making frames; we are making a point.
We make strange things to solve strange problems. Or sometimes, just to make you look twice.
“FAILURE IS ALWAYS AN OPTION.”
